Alpha-2-macroglobulin (A2M) injection therapy is ideal for managing:
- Osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Ligament sprains and tears
- Bursitis
- Tendinitis
- Tennis elbow
- Golfer’s elbow
A2M is a large protein found in blood plasma that has the capability to inhibit the activity of various proteinases, including those involved in cartilage degradation.
In osteoarthritis, the cartilage in joints wears down over time, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. Alpha-2-macroglobulin A2M therapy works by injecting concentrated A2M directly into the affected joint. Once inside the joint, A2M can bind to and neutralize certain enzymes responsible for cartilage breakdown, thus slowing down the progression of osteoarthritis and potentially alleviating symptoms.
This therapy is still relatively new and undergoing clinical evaluation to assess its efficacy and safety. It represents a promising avenue for osteoarthritis treatment, particularly for individuals who may not respond well to traditional therapies like pain medications or corticosteroid injections. However, like any medical treatment, it’s essential to consult with a healthcare professional to determine if A2M injection therapy is suitable for your specific condition and medical history.
How does it work?
Blood is drawn from a patient, then placed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma, platelets, red and white blood cells, The plasma then goes through the filtration process to concentrate naturally occurring proteins that are not typically contained in high quantities in traditional platelet rich plasma, preparations.
These naturally occurring proteins are then injected into the injured area with either ultrasound or Fluoroscopic guidance.
Once introduced into the injured area they bind and neutralize pro-inflammatory enzymes and cytokines that are responsible for cartilage breakdown, inflammation and joint pain.
The goal is to prevent or slow down cartilage breakdown, rejuvenate, repair, and heal damage tissue.
New Industry-Leading XCELL Protein Concentrator
This is the best new protein concentrator on the market! The concentrator provides:
- Industry-leading increases in platelet-derived growth factors, A2M, cytokines, fibrinogen, IRAP, and VEGF concentrations.
- Higher removal of water through patented new membrane material. This allows for best-in-class concentrations and larger amounts of desired proteins to be recovered during processing.
- Filters come primed to significantly increase recoverable volume, increasing retention of proteins that can be utilized in procedures.
- Pre-assembled connectors and caps to ensure increased sterility and improve convenience.
- Flexibility to not only produce a highly concentrated injectate of A2M, but also provide a PRP solution up to 14mL.
What science tells us about A2M & IRAP
Scientific evidence points to A2M (Alpha-2-Macroglobulin) as the key to slowing the progression of osteoarthritis at the molecular level. A2M is a broad spectrum multi-purpose protease inhibitor (powerful chemical in destroying proteins that cause arthritis) that captures and inactivates the three major chemicals that lead to joint breakdown and cartilage damage. Once these bad chemicals are trapped by A2M, the body can then quickly eliminate them. It is also reported that A2M can act as a powerful anti-inflammatory and aid in pain management.
Research on IRAP (Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist Protein) has shown that it specifically prevents IL-1 from binding to its receptors, slowing the progression of osteoarthritis in joints.
